Fallen Special Agents
Who Selflessly Served Our Nation

At the Randy Bolt Memorial Fund, we always remember our fallen Special Agents who have dedicated their lives in service of the people. Even in simple ways, through the events and tournaments we hold and by financially supporting their survivors, we want to honor and thank them for all that they have done. Our selfless special agents may have been taken too soon, but they will never be forgotten.

Special Agent Randy Bolt

On May 10, 1995, Special Agent Randy Bolt (48) was killed in a head-on collision on State Highway 37 in Solano County while en-route to his assignment. The other driver (31), who also died in the accident, crossed the center divider and collided with Agent Bolt’s vehicle. Randy had 22 years in law enforcement, including seven years of working with the California Department of Justice. The area of the highway has since been named after Randy.

Special Agent Supervisor Michiel Hyder

On March 27, 2000, Special Agent Supervisor Michiel Hyder was brutally murdered by her husband at her home in Truckee, California . After her death, the decision was made to host a golf tournament in her name. The golf tournament is held on the last Friday of March  each year.

Michiel began her law enforcement career with the El Cajon Police Department and continued on with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office before joining DOJ. In Michiel’s memory, Randy Bolt Memorial Fund donates a portion of the golf tournament proceeds to the Community Resource Center’s (CRC) Domestic Violence Shelter and Housing Center. CRC is located in San Diego County, where she began her career. To date, we have donated more than $20,000.00 in Michiel’s name.

Special Agent Supervisor William Garvey

On September 24, 2005, Special Agent Supervisor William Garvey (55) was killed in a vehicle accident. William had been working tirelessly the full day and in the late night at the site of a clandestione drug lab operation. He lost control of his vehicle while en-route home from the late night field operation. The organization decided to host a Texas Hold ‘Em Poker Tournament in his name, which is held on the first Friday of October.

Special Agent Patrick Dillion

Special Agent Patrick Dillion died of cancer on April 14, 2007. His cancer was directly related to the many clandestine drug laboratories he investigated and processed. The executive board of our organization decided to host a bowling tournament, which has been appropriately named the Patrick "Pat" Dillon Memorial Bowling Tournament. It is held  in late October.
